Hope you are enjoying this jingly time of the year!
This is actually the favorite time of mine in the year. I usually try to make some time to get under the blanket to be cozy with a nice read and a hot coffee. isn’t that tempting!
Anyway, as the year is ending (Already!), I would like to mention few memorable new releases of this year. You can pick them up if you still haven’t read them 🙂
- Selection day by Arvind Adiga :
This was the most awaited book for me as it was from the author of one of my favorite books, The white tiger.
Though not up to the exact literary mark as its predecessor, this book is certainly worth reading.
This books tells about the most loved and overrated sport in our country, India. Not only that, this book talks about its nasty side too.
- Death under the deodars by Ruskin Bond:
Ruskin Bond tried his hand into suspense thriller and oh boy! The result is great. It consists of few not so small stories and it is definitely worth picking up. Ruskin Bond needs no introduction to his wonderful writing after all.
- Things to leave behind by Namita Gokhale:
This is a historical novel set on picturesque Kumaon evolving around the lives of Tillottama and her Albino daughter Deoki. This incredible novel covers their journey of life between the span of 1840-1912. I request you not to miss this one.
- It’s all in the planets by Preeti Shenoy:
Although I am not that fan of romantic fiction, I am really fond of Preeti Shenoy’s beautiful language of depicting it. This is a story of four people on a journey we call destiny. A simple love story to adore. You will probably love it as well.
- Before we visit the Goddess by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni :
The story is about three generation of women ; Sabitri, Bela and Tara. All detached from each other in life, resented each other at some point of life but the course their life has taken are somehow painfully similar.
Author is known for her beautiful portray of character and the relationship between them and she has succeeded here as well.
- Nothing else matters by Vish Dhamija:
I was so excited for this release as this one is from my favorite thriller author, Vish Dhamija and he did not disappoint me either. This is another brilliant story about one hired killer who is assigned to kill the husband of his old flame of college life. Doesn’t that sound interesting?
- Black suits you by Novoneel Chakraborty:
He is another one of my favorite thriller writers. Novoneel’s style of telling story is so gripping that you would probably end up reading this book at one go. This is a superb suspense novel about an obsessed fan of a famous and handsome erotic writer.
- The Gene by Siddhartha Mukherjee:
This book has been already praised by many and lot has been talked. Therefore, I would not go into details but would definitely encourage you to pick it up if you have not read it already. The narration of the author is very vivid and engaging, it would take you to the history like it is your own memory.
- Colorful notions by Mohit Goyal:
I really loved this book for it’s unique subject. this book is about three friends on a road trip to cover India’s all the famous places. Not at all predictable. So beautiful is the language to describe of the places and the emotions between three friends. Give it a try guy!
- The three wise monkeys by Jeet Glan:This book is hilarious. The author has planned to make you laugh out loud many a times, so pick this up to lighten your mood. This book is about three friends and chartered accountants, Amar, Akbar and Anthony trying to make their lady luck smile to their careers. Full on masala Bollywood style funny! If that is what you are looking for, it is the best pick for you.
There are many other wonderful books that released this year and I wish to read them all.
