10 love stories worth reading by Indian authors
After a long time..
I was taking a little romantic story break after reading so much thrillers and murder mysteries!
About romantic books or novels, I must confess here that I don’t like most of the book in the market about the mushy love stories where boy met girl and vouched for eternal love. I love a book that gives me something more to hold on. A twist of mystery or something more realistic, something that touch the string of my heart, I am all for it.
So I have a list for you which I found a little different from typical teenage love stories. Hope you enjoy them 🙂
They are not in any particular order by the way.
- Two states by Chetan Bhagat :
This one is my favorite of CB lot as it has some personal memory related to it. It is a beautiful love story of two IIM batchmates who are divided by their religion and region. One small tip: read this if you had a love story of yours in your college. you will love it 😉
- Punk Sunk love by Dhirendra Tiwari :
This one blew my mind. This is not just a teenage rom com. Its lovely how the author has portrayed his lead characters and their journey. Not just a good girl fell for the wrong guy. It will surprise you with it’s twist of mystery. It was like watching a movie through the pages.
- The best seller she wrote by Ravi Subramanian :
Imagine the bestselling crime writer telling you a love story. The best of both worlds it is. A story of a bestselling author and a star banker falling a prey in love.
- The scarred legacy by Suvika :
A beautiful story of two people whose wounded minds carried from the life left behind restrict them to move a step forward towards their heart’s desire. Read it, I believe you would like this one.
- You are the best wife by Ajay K Pandey :
This particular book has many reasons to be liked. First, it is a very beautiful story of two completely different people come together in love and create their own world. Second, the book is written for good cause. It also has very different end that will stir your emotions.
- Romance shorts by Sourabh Mukherjee :
It is a little different one of this list being not one single novel but a collection of four beautiful stories. My favorite would be the first one, Nargis. It would take you to a strange nostalgic time when you had a unspoken love for a unknown person you see everyday. You imagine every possible future with him but never too courageous to confront. The narration is so powerful to keep you in a trance after reading it.
- The girl of my dreams by Durjoy Dutta :
Durjoy Dutta used to be a rave among us girls while we were in college. We used to love his teenage romance novels.
I kinda expected same thing and was not very hopeful as I am past that phase now.
But whoa! It was altogether a different experience. He has really come out of his comfort zone and his writing has matured a lot. The novel starts with a dream sequence of an accident and it’s description will shock you.
The story is a thriller which follows Daman, a newbie writer who finds his worst nightmare to be true.
- Colorful notions by Mohit Goyal :
This one is a real beautiful story of three friends going on a road trip! Sounds like znmd? No its better than that.
It describes the journey of all over India by car. The journey of Abhay, Sasha and his girlfriend Unnati.
The author has described various places and its culture quite nicely. You can imagine the haridwar ghat and spooky palace vividly by reading it.
Being so fond of traveling myself, I believe that traveling takes you not only to exotic places, it is a spiritual journey as well. Gaze through the snowy mountains or endless sea, you will feel presence of God there and author has captured that spirituality very beautifully.
- Love, no matter what by Komal Ahuja :
This is a different love story. Love at it’s purest form, love of mother and children. It is based on a subject that few people write about, a child born as intersex and a mother’s fight to give her child a respectable life. Thanks to Komal Ahuja to write on this wonderful subject that is so neglected in our soceity.
- Everyone has a story by Savi Sharma :
It reads like a fresh breeze. It is a story of a aspiring writer and when she falls in love, reader needs to decide it is the person or the story that she falls in love with.
Well, I have given you a variety, I know, not just love story but I think you would love them. Let me know if you like any and if you want to add something to the list.
